About This Project

In 2020, by order of UAB “Akmenės laisvoji ekonominė zona”, a single-storey production and storage building for case furniture components manufactured from medium-density particleboard (hereinafter – MDP) was designed within the territory of the Akmenė Free Economic Zone. The building also includes two-storey administrative and staff facilities. Functionally, the building is connected to the engineering infrastructure designed in previous projects, as well as to the MDP production building, from which raw materials for furniture production will be transferred through the finished products warehouse.

The planned production capacity is 750,000 m² of furniture components per month.

Architecturally, the building is characterized by dominant horizontal lines and rectangular volumes. The scale of the building is visually reduced and the long façade planes are articulated through the interplay of darker and lighter materials. The selected colour palette consists of silver grey, dark grey, and black tones, complemented by natural concrete finishes used for retaining walls and the plinth.

A representative façade has been designed along the length of the building and is compositionally integrated with the façade of the adjacent MDP production building, together framing the representative zone of the territory.

A decorative wall-stela with a designated area for the company logo has been designed. A decorative glass canopy has also been designed above the main entrance to the building.

The designed buildings incorporate solutions aimed at increasing energy efficiency, including proper orientation of the premises according to cardinal directions and measures for protection against overheating. Contemporary heat-saving materials have been used throughout the project. In the administrative area, windows with tinted glass and solar control solutions have been designed. For natural lighting and electricity savings in the production and storage premises, skylight strips have been designed in the roof.
