About This Project

Bendrieji statybų projektai (BSP) served as the lead design consultant for the Kauno Grūdai instant food production complex in Alytus. The project was implemented in several phases, gradually expanding production capacity and establishing one of the largest instant food manufacturing centres in the Baltic States.

The first phase of the factory was completed in 2018–2019. A modern instant noodle production facility was designed and built on a site exceeding 4 hectares, tailored for continuous production, advanced food industry technologies, and export market requirements. The factory obtained the internationally recognised BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Food Safety Standard certification, confirming the highest standards of food safety and quality management.

As demand for products continued to grow across European markets, a second expansion phase was designed adjacent to the existing factory. This phase included a production and storage building with administrative, technical, and employee welfare facilities. Design solutions focused on increasing production capacity, optimising operational flows, and integrating highly automated manufacturing technologies.

During a later development phase, additional warehouse facilities were designed to ensure efficient raw material and finished goods logistics while supporting the continued expansion of the production complex.

The complex includes instant noodle and porridge production lines, storage areas, engineering infrastructure, and site logistics solutions. Particular attention was given to separating raw material, production, and finished product flows, ensuring process efficiency and maintaining the high hygiene standards required in modern food manufacturing.

Following the expansion, the Alytus production complex gained an additional capacity of up to 300 million units annually, while the total Kauno Grūdai instant food production capacity increased to approximately 500 million units per year.

Design solutions formed a modern, phased food industry complex that combines high food safety standards, efficient production logistics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
